Dgenr8
Born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens, New York. Spent my teenage years frequenting Ska and Punk shows nightly, wasting every last cent on the most obscure punk and rock CD’s I could find. Picked up Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung by Lester Bangs and knew exactly what I wanted to do. Rock as writing, it made perfect sense. Bangs had a rare talent for making his writing hit hard, and unapologetic like the music he covered, making it personal not analytical. My humble beginnings were on the Queens College newspaper reviewing CD’s and live shows. I am a student of Bukowski, Kafka, Vonnegut and Bogosian among others. This is what I do, CD’s go out of print real fast, mp3’s are disposable. Life and music can be immortalized in writing, the best I can hope for is that if my writings don’t last forever, that the impressions that they make will.
